Another Tulsa Plant Recipe!

This combination is a rare one....Lemon Wave Hydrangea with BaptistaBaptista is sometimes referred to as 'False Indigo'. The foliage after the spring blooming of Baptista is quite lovely and goes nicely with the Lemon Hydrangea. The flowers are more of a Lace-cap, or small  floret in a light mauve. The foliage of the Lemon Wave is very dramatic. This hydrangea is used mostly for the wild psychedelic colors it brings to your landscape. Consider planting this hydrangea where it will be protected from West exposure and the Northern winds. Good Luck and Good Growing!

When to trim Azaleas...

Many people ask us "when is the best time to trim my azaleas?" Trim them after the last bloom has died. The new growth comes on after they bloom. The new buds for the flowers are set soon after the new growth...so you have only a small window for trimming. Do not trim very much...usually 6 to 8 inches at most. If you have some you want to experiment with then go for it,,,next year will reveal the results.

The 'Hampton Beauty Azalea' , why we use this so much in the Tulsa Oklahoma area.

The Hampton Beauty has been around a long time. This azalea has a medium growth habit and will spread to about 4'. The color is a mixture of pale to rich pink tips and is a dense growing azalea staying in a 3 to 4' height. As always wait to trim till after the last bloom has died.
