Whats blooming right now inTulsa Oklahoma?

Wisteria is in full bloom right now. The colors range from white to pink to shades of lilac. It's easy to grow; in fact, Wisteria sometimes has to be tamed with some aggressive pruning. It works well on arbors and atop fences and -- with some careful attention -- in old established trees.  There are also some free-standing or "tree form" varieties.  Ultimately few plants compare to Wisteria in terms of luscious blooms and fragrant aroma...creating a unique atmosphere with such endearing colors and graceful shapes.

This tree grows up to about 20 feet. One of the first to bloom in March, is sometimes knocked out by a surprise freeze.
The leaves remain a variation of this color all summer. Loves the sun and has a surprising amount of color this time of year.

Lilac...one of the first radiant smells of Spring

I love this smell...I look forward to this every Spring. Lilacs are worth the trouble...not an easy plant to grow in the beginning....but once established can make it through the hottest of summers.
When trimming a Lilac...cut as if you are cutting blooms to put in water...this is all the trimming you need......removing any dead branches as you go...

Spring

So far we are having an early Spring this year...its time to go out and clean up the beds and prepare for any planting of seeds. Remember to plant inside 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost, which is considered to be April 15th here in Tulsa.
